This summer, Bátor Tábor was once again filled with laughter: across five camp sessions, a total of 347 campers experienced the power of community, play and shared experiences with the support of 478 volunteers.
We held five summer camp sessions this year: camps for children aged 7–13 and young people aged 14–18, as well as two Sibling Camps, where children living with serious illness could attend camp together with their healthy siblings. We also held our Slovak–Czech International Family Camp, where family members could enjoy meaningful experiences both together and separately.
This summer, Bátor Tábor welcomed its 15,000th camper. This milestone is particularly important to us, as our very first camp welcomed just 35 children in 2001, 25 years ago.
In this, the 25th anniversary year of Bátor Tábor, we can celebrate both the journey we have taken together and everything that still lies ahead. One thing, however, has not changed: we continue to work to give children living with serious illness and their families experiences that give them strength to face the challenges of everyday life.
Summer may be over, but the experiences and the work we share continue. We are already preparing for our autumn family camps, while our School Outreacg Program is getting ready for the new school year, bringing the Bátor Tábor experience into classrooms as well. Meanwhile, volunteers in our GO! Program continue to bring healing moments to hospital beds and into people’s homes through their screens.
